📰Feb 3rd Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent Named CFPB Acting Director
📰Feb 3rd Treasury's Bessent tells CFPB staff to stop everything
Feb 7th OMB head Russell Vought takes over as CFPB as acting head
Feb 6th Russel Vought was confirmed as the director of the Office of Management and Budget on Thursday, February 6th, 2025. He was then named acting director of CFPB.
Feb 7th, Elon Musk and his DOGE team setup shop inside the CFPB.
Feb 8th, Vought ordered all employees of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to cease “all supervision and examination activity” and “all stakeholder engagement” effective immediately.
Feb 11th, Jonathan McKernan was nominated as Director of CFPB. He is likely to be approved by the Senate.
